Why not other states?
What are some of the most widespread misconceptions regarding Northeast India among non-Indians?
Let’s have a look at North East India first.
The vast majority of people I’ve met have no idea what the names of NorthEast India’s states are.
In alphabetical order, Arunachal Pradesh is the first of the eight states that make up the region. The Indian state of Assam is the second. Tripura is the next one. The state of Sikkim is NorthEast India’s eighth. Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland are the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively. The following state is Tripura. Sikkim is the eighth state in North East India. On the other hand, many people in the Northeast are unaware of Sikkim’s existence. The seven sisters, as well as Sikkim, make up the Northeast. Sikkim was annexed to the Indian union, and in the 1990s, it was recognised as part of Northeast India.
Why do we use permits?
The Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region was established in September 2001. It as being the core government’s nodal department for matters relating to the socio-economic development of the ten Northeastern Indian claims of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim. The most prevalent misperception I’ve encountered is that visiting Northeast India requires a visa. People may, however, be referring to the Inner Line Permits ILP, which are necessary for travel to several Northeastern states.
What about women’s safety?
If you’re wondering if India’s northeast is still a safe location for women, look no further. With the exception of Assam, the rest of the Seven Sisters have had some of the lowest rates of crimes against women in the country since 2014. Arunachal Pradesh exhibits a reasonably stable picture when looking at statistics on how each state fared.
iLoveNorthEast India helps people from outside the region understand the current state of safety in North East India. The area is perfectly safe, just like the rest of the country. Almost all insurgent groups that existed previously no longer exist or are no longer operational. Bangladesh, Myanmar, and China are three nations that share borders with North East India. Without a doubt, the region is one of the most beautiful in the country. If you have an open mind, you will enjoy the country and everything you learn about it.
